Create Your Own Vinyl Record

Not every Spotify playlist needs to become a record—and that's part of what makes this fun.

Start with a playlist that means something.

Why?

Music on a vinyl record is physically stored in grooves. As more audio is added to one side, those grooves have to be cut closer together. Keeping the runtime closer to 18 minutes gives the grooves more room and helps preserve volume, clarity, bass response, and detail.

That doesn't mean a 19- or 20-minute side is suddenly a problem. It simply means that when you're building your playlist, 18 minutes is a great target and 22 minutes is the limit.

And you don't have to calculate everything manually.

How Many Songs Fit on a Vinyl Record (And Why It Matters).

Spotify is a streaming service, so your Spotify playlist should be thought of as the blueprint for your record, not the source of the audio files used to make it.
