How to Turn Your Engagement Photos and Songs Into a Vinyl Record

How to Turn Your Engagement Photos and Songs Into a Vinyl Record

You have the pictures.

You probably already have the songs.

They just aren't together yet.

Your engagement photos may be sitting in a gallery or on your phone. The songs that tell your relationship story might be scattered across Spotify playlists, saved albums, old road-trip playlists, or memories you haven't thought about in years.

Bring those two things together and something interesting happens.

Your engagement photos become the album artwork. Your meaningful songs become the record.

The result is a real, playable vinyl album built around the two of you.

It can capture the proposal, celebrate the engagement, and tell some of the story that brought you to this moment.

If you want to see all of the ways you can personalize one, start with Personalized Engagement Gifts Made From Your Photos, Songs & Memories.

Start With the Photos That Feel Like an Album Cover

You don't need dozens of photographs to create an engagement record.

Start by finding the one.

Look through your engagement or proposal photographs and ask:

“If our relationship had an album, which picture would be on the cover?”

That may be the perfectly posed engagement portrait.

But it might be the proposal itself.

The reaction afterward.

A candid photograph of the two of you laughing.

Or even an older favorite from before the engagement.

You're not simply choosing the technically best photograph.

You're choosing the image that sets the tone for the album.

Once you've found that one, the rest of the design becomes much easier.

Your Proposal Photos Can Tell a Different Part of the Story

If someone photographed the proposal, those images have something engagement portraits don't:

the actual moment.

The question.

The reaction.

The ring.

The hug afterward.

Those photographs can work beautifully alongside more polished engagement portraits.

For example, a favorite engagement portrait might become the front cover while a proposal image becomes part of another personalized area.

Or reverse it.

Let the proposal photograph be the emotional centerpiece and use your engagement portraits to complete the album.

The photographs don't all have to come from the same day.

They just need to belong to the same story.

Now Find the Songs That Belong With Those Photos

Once you've chosen the photographs, think about what you would want to hear while looking through them.

Start with the obvious possibilities:

The song from when you met
“Your song”
A dating favorite
Music from a memorable trip
An artist you've seen together
The proposal song
A song connected to an inside joke
Something you both love right now

Don't worry about whether every track qualifies as a traditional love song.

That's not the goal.

The song belongs because the memory belongs.

If choosing the music is the difficult part, our next Engagement supporting article—What Songs Should You Put on an Engagement Vinyl Record?—will go much deeper into building the soundtrack.

Engagement Collection

 MAKE IT COMPLETELY YOURS

Every relationship has its own story. Personalize the music, photos, memories, and vinyl to create an engagement record built around everything that led to “yes.”

Your Songs

Choose the music that tells your story — from the songs you loved when you met to dating favorites, road trips, concerts, your song, and the music connected to your proposal.

Your Photos

Turn engagement photos, proposal pictures, favorite portraits, vacations, or everyday moments into album artwork that feels completely personal to you.

Your Story

Add your names, engagement date, proposal memories, and personal details to create an album that celebrates the story that brought you to this moment.

Your Vinyl

Choose timeless Black or Clear vinyl, select a Studio Color, match a meaningful custom HEX color, or put your photograph directly on a playable Picture Record.

You Can Mix Different Artists, Genres and Eras

Your relationship probably doesn't have one musical genre.

Your record doesn't need one either.

You can put different artists, albums, genres, and eras together on the same engagement record.

That means a song from when you first met can sit beside something you discovered together years later.

You also decide exactly which songs belong on Side A and Side B and the order in which they play.

If you want to understand how choosing your own music works, read Can You Put Any Song on a Vinyl Record?

Already Have Your Relationship Songs in a Spotify Playlist?

Use it as your starting point.

Go through the playlist and identify the songs that immediately bring back a person, place, period, or memory.

Then narrow those tracks into your Side A and Side B selections.

Spotify can act as your playlist blueprint, but the Spotify stream itself isn't used as the production audio.

You can upload your own audio files, or provide the artist and exact song title/version so Black Label Vinyl can purchase the tracks.

If your music currently lives in Spotify, our How to Turn a Spotify Playlist Into a Vinyl Record guide explains the process from playlist to playable vinyl.

Make Side A and Side B Part of the Engagement Story

You don't have to put the songs in chronological order.

But it's a fun way to use the physical format of vinyl.

For example:

SIDE A — HOW WE GOT HERE

When we met
Dating
Trips and adventures
Our song
The proposal

SIDE B — WHAT COMES NEXT

Current favorites
Songs about your life together
Music connected to future plans
A possible wedding song
Something that represents you now

Or ignore chronology entirely and arrange the songs in the order that sounds best to you.

There is no required track order.

It's your album.

Choose the Engagement Vinyl Style That Fits Your Story

Once you know what you want the album to say, choose how you want the physical record to look.

How Much Music Fits on Your Engagement Record?

This is the point where you should stop counting songs and start counting minutes.

A Black Label Vinyl 12-inch record can hold up to approximately 22 minutes per side.

When possible, around 18 minutes per side is ideal.

Longer runtimes require the grooves to be cut closer together, so the duration of the songs matters more than the number of tracks.

Use the Vinyl Length Calculator before finalizing Side A and Side B.

What If You Don't Have the Song Files?

That's okay.

If you already own the music files, Black Label Vinyl accepts:

MP3
WAV
M4A

If you don't have the audio files, provide the artist and exact song title/version for each track.

Black Label Vinyl can purchase commercially available songs for a flat $17 music-purchasing fee.

Be specific about the version you want.

A song may have an album version, remaster, radio edit, acoustic recording, live version, clean version, or another release.

If a requested recording isn't commercially available from a legitimate music seller, we'll contact you to see whether you have the file.

Your Photos Already Show the Moment. Give Them a Soundtrack.

Your engagement photographs can preserve what this chapter looked like.

The music can preserve what it felt like.

You're creating your own album.

Give it a cover.

Give it a Side A and Side B.

Put it on a real record.

And create something from your engagement that you can actually put on the turntable and play.
